A return to Linguaglossa

The Neri story begins with Vincenzo, who returned to Sicily after emigrating to the United States in the early twentieth century. He bought land in Linguaglossa and planted vines and olive trees. Wine and olive oil became part of the family business.

Today Salvo and Fabio Neri carry that connection forward. The family’s own history describes how they expanded its activities with the support of their parents, Santo and Nina. Agriculture and hospitality developed alongside one another, with Casa Arrigo and Villa Neri becoming other expressions of the same relationship with Etna.

Two contrade, local varieties

Neri’s vineyards lie in the contrade of Arrigo and Borrigliona, around Linguaglossa. The estate describes volcanic soils and manual harvesting, with Nerello Mascalese for its red wines and Carricante and Catarratto among its white varieties. Its olive groves include Nocellara dell’Etna.

The range includes Etna Rosso, Etna Bianco and Etna Rosato. Marc de Grazia Selections also lists the estate and identifies Calogero Statella as its winemaker and agronomist. For a professional selection, these are useful starting points for discussing the place of Etna reds, whites and rosé in a buyer’s range.

A detail from the cellar

The producer describes an old palmento, the traditional winemaking space, and a barrel cellar where classical music accompanies maturation. The winery presents this as a family tradition, connecting the visitor’s experience with the history of the estate.
